Esso Diesel Efficient is an advanced fuel that is treated with a patented additive package specially designed to clean up the complete fuel system including, the internal injector and nozzle deposits. • How does this work with a diesel engine?

Esso Diesel Efficient fuel starts to work as soon as you add it to your fuel tank. The patented additive technology in Esso Diesel Efficient fuel is designed to remove sediments, water and deposits throughout the entire fuel system. Esso Diesel Efficient fuel is engineered to remove the deposits that form on the injectors as a result of heat and the combustion process.

Over time, deposits form on the internal parts of the injectors. These deposits can cause the injectors to stick and delay the introduction of fuel into the cylinder. The delay reduces the amount of time the fuel and air have to mix thereby leading to less than ideal combustion. Esso Diesel Efficient fuel is designed to remove the deposits from the injector ports. As the ports of the injectors become clogged, the fuel, traveling at high pressure through the ports and into the combustion chamber, might not atomize properly. This could lead to a less than optimal fuel burn and to an increase in emissions and particulates.

Esso Diesel Efficient fuel will clean and maintain the complete fuel system, providing an improved combustion process in older engines and protecting new engines from harmful deposits. In short, Esso Diesel Efficient fuel is designed to clean your complete fuel system, maintain fuel system cleanliness and provide corrosion protection to improve combustion and reduce harmful emissions and particulate matter.

Tested by independent third-party

This product was tested by a leading independent laboratory in the United States. They put the truck through its paces both in the lab and on the road for a total of 240,000 KM. Tests were done in all conditions that apply in day to day business from long haul to stop and go traffic.

Positive lab results are one thing, but what drivers and company owners think of the product is the most important test. Challenger Motor Freight of Cambridge, Ontario agreed to work with Imperial to test Esso Diesel Efficient fuel for 6 months. This company has 1300 tractors and over 3000 trailers, so staying on the road is very important. At the end of the pilot, the Imperial rollout team visited Challenger. Here are some of the comments from Challenger’s management and staff.

Dan Einwechter, chairman and founder of Challenger has been involved with trucking since he started his first company in 1975. When asked about Esso Diesel Efficient fuel, here is what Dan had to say: “Innovation has played a significant role in our success. We’re willing to try new and different things. We had a great partner to work with, so I think it was perfect for us to do.”

Chris Iveson, Director of Maintenance for Challenger went on to say. “Maintenance on equipment today is very difficult, so having a solid plan is very, very important. At the beginning of the pilot we were told that we would see a fuel economy savings of close to 2%. Towards the end of the program, we were very happy with the results we did see.” He went on to add “In this business we see all kinds of lotions and potions and snake oils that typically are unproven, so being involved with this was really a positive, eye-opening experience.” 

Dave and Deb Potoma have been a driving team and couple for 20 years; they own their own rig and drive for Challenger. They were asked to be part of the Challenger/Esso Diesel Efficient pilot as well. They both commented that they saw a difference in their trucks’ performance after one tank. After using the fuel for 10 months, Dave told the team “I used to drop a gear on one hill that I travel in the north all the time. And with the same load on, I don’t even drop that gear anymore. It just pulls up that hill nice and smooth, and away I go.” Deb added “So it saves us money, and as owner-operators, that’s what you need to do.” 

Mohamed Abdi, an Operations manager with Challenger ended the interview by adding “As trucking companies, we have to continue to evolve. We have to continue to be more efficient. I would definitely recommend Diesel Efficient to other fleets. If you’re not using it, take a look”.
